This project is the result of thoughts, images, people, emotions, conversations, comparisons between bodies, hands, opinions. Read books. Watched movies. Heard songs. Silences. Presences, but most of all absences. This research was analyzing different metropolis, from New York to Los Angeles, Miami to Berlin, Warsaw to Lisboa, creating a link between continents, phisical and geographical spaces that are very different and away from each other but with one thing in common: these fragmented feelings that reduce the individual to an unknown inhabitant o fan equally unknown space in which this precarious and unstable link between man and the space he lives in is uncovered. The photographic research deals with the interpretation of concept of “contemporary identity” in relation with the relationship between metropolitan and individual space.Space that is son of a “post –crisis” age, lives in a state of permanent emozional split caused by the impossibility to find a direct contact between its own inner space and the outer/metropolitan one.Which is a space of sensorial over-simulation and consequently, expression of ambivalent and fragmented feelings, typical of an individual that becomes “unknown” even to himself. This perception is rapresented through the use of double and triple exposures that, like addition of times, overwritings of feelings and views, embody the idea of contemporary overview: a fragmented vision, incoherent, illogical, out of time and space. This research is supported by the works of authors ( writers, photographers, directors, sociologists) that have in common themes like: identity, metropolis as places of contrasts and inner landscapes, time that isintroduced in the photographic image through multiple exposures that aim to rapresent the “global vision” not only in optical, but also in emoziona terms.Just to name a few: W. Wenders and the relationship with vision, F. Pessoa and the concept of “moltitude”, P. Handke, W.Klein, G. Simmel. The opening image of this projects is a sort of “topography” in which phisical and emoziona spaces add themselves to create a single image which is the result of a superimposition o fan ultrasound ( the uterus seen ad a container for emotion) and a world map on which the analized places are pointed out. Each image becomes the metaphore o fan Emotional Landscape on the borderline where the central theme always is the individual in relation with himself and the reality that sourrounds him. This borderline condition assumes a simboli role, being a “bridge” able to heal the fracture that, from a contemporarycondition, become a typical human one.
